First Images From Space

Hello guys, Welcome again with new interesting post.  In this post we will discuss about the first images taken from space. These pictures are about earth, Blue Marble (first clear image of earth), black hole, The sun and were taken from various space missions. So, lets discuss.

1.first image of earth:

First image of earth is taken by soldiers and scientists at white sands missile range launched on 24 October 1946. It’s taken by V-2 missile carrying motion picture camera. These images taken above 65 miles about surface where outer space starts. During these mission between 1946 to 1950 about 1000 images were taken at altitude high as 100 miles.

2. The Blue Marble

Blue marble is first cleared image of earth taken form space taken by Apollo 17 crew members Harrison Schmitt and Ron Evans on 7 December 1972 on their way to moon. From distance of 29000 km above earth. And it was the first cleared image of earth in history. This image mainly shows Mediterranean Sea to Antarctica. And also coastline of Africa is clearly visible.

3. Black hole

First, we will discuss what is mean by black hole?

Black hole is dense space body whose gravitational force is much more than other space bodies. Even light cant escape through the black hole. Black holes formed due to collision of massive stars at the time of their evolution. Its like vacuum machine in space which sucks everything in it and turns into singularity.

In Interstellar movie, we have seen the simulation of black hole named Gargantua. Which is super massive fictional blackhole having mass 100 million times that of our sun This simulation was created with the help of Oliver James of DNEG. That was the first clear visualization of black hole ever created.

Black hole and its shadow are firstly imaged by International network of radio telescopes with the help of Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), in April 2017. Steller black holes have mass about dozens of suns but the black hole spotted by ETH is supermassive black hole having mass millions time that of our sun.

4. first selfie from space

First selfie in space is taken by Buzz Aldrin photographed during Gemini mission 12 in 1966. Aldrin managed to capture image by pointing camera towards himself and photographed selfie with beautiful earth as background.

In 2015 vintage print of selfie was sold for around $9200 in auction held at London.

5. first  image of sun

in 1845 French physicist Leon Foucault and Louis Fizeau managed to take the first image of sun. at that time due to lack of advanced technology the pair pointed at sun and after exposure of 1/60th part of second, image was made. Working with similar tolls as Drapper, the duo created a daguerreotype about 4.7 inches in diameter

In the upcoming post we will discuss more about curious topics. Till then stay tuned. Have a nice day😊
